The Role: Project Scientist-I

As a Project Scientist-I, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of epigenetic regulation in trophoblast stem cells, with a direct impact on women’s reproductive health. This position offers a dynamic research environment where you will utilize your expertise in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and sample collection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mammalian cell culture experiments, ensuring optimal conditions for cell growth and maintenance.
  • Collect blood and placenta samples, adhering to ethical guidelines and established protocols.
  • Perform a range of molecular and cell biology techniques, including PCR cloning, transfection, and potentially Immunohistochemistry.
  • Contribute to data analysis and interpretation, assisting in the preparation of research reports and publications.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and results.
  • Assist with general laboratory maintenance and organization.
  • Potentially interact with doctors and nurses for sample collection and related activities (depending on experience).

Essential Qualifications:

  • MSc or equivalent degree in any branch of Life Sciences, with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • Minimum of 6 months of documented experience in mammalian cell culture.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in blood or placenta sample collection.
  • Documented experience in molecular and cell biology techniques like PCR cloning, and transfection.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak Malayalam (This is a plus, given the location).
  • Experience in interaction with doctors and nurses.
  • Experience of working with placenta.
  • Ability to perform Immunohistochemistry.

Age Limit: Below 35 years as on February 18th, 2025. Age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India norms.

Emoluments: A competitive salary of Rs. 56,000/- + 18% HRA per month will be provided.

Duration: The position is initially for one year or until the termination of the project (whichever is earlier), with the possibility of extension based on performance evaluation.
