The Government of India’s Ministry of Health & Family Welfare oversees the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC). By creating and preserving the Indian Pharmacopoeia, IPC plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the effectiveness, safety, and quality of medications in India. Among its duties are the updating of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, the publication of the National Formulary of India, the provision of reference materials, and the oversight of the programs for materiovigilance and pharmacovigilance. It also runs pharmaceutical-related skill-development programs.

Job Responsibilities

Your primary duties as an IPC Scientific Officer will be:

  • Research and Analysis: Carrying out in-depth investigations and analyses about medications and pharmaceuticals.
  • Standardization: Assisting in the creation and upkeep of drug standards in accordance with the Indian Pharmacopoeia.
  • Quality control is the process of rigorously testing and validating drugs to ensure their safety and quality.
  • Documentation: Writing research papers, technical reports, and helping to keep IPC publications current.
  • Collaboration: Closely collaborating to give scientific support and knowledge with other departments and stakeholders.

Requirements for the role of Chief Scientific Officer:

  • A postgraduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline is necessary.
  • PhD in any one of these disciplines.
  • a minimum of ten years’ experience, five of which were spent in supervisory positions including pharmaceutical analysis and research.

Experience conducting research and publishing in related subjects are desirable.

Regarding the Senior Scientific Officer:

  • A postgraduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline is necessary.
  • five years of expertise in pharmaceutical research and analysis.
  • A PhD in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • research background with papers in related domains.
  • proficiency with software for computers.

  • Technical expertise: Excellent understanding of drug analysis and pharmaceutical sciences.
