Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist for our Analytical Development (AD) team to lead complex projects in a dynamic research environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and mentoring a team of research professionals, while providing high-level technical expertise in analytical method development and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Lead a team of Research Associates (RAs) and Junior Research Scientists, ensuring optimal productivity and skill development.
- Provide technical guidance in troubleshooting complex analytical instrument issues (HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, GC, IR) and resolve analysis problems independently.
- Mentor team members in advanced analytical techniques and offer guidance on overcoming experimental challenges.
Project Coordination and Technical Execution:
- Oversee the execution of complex projects, ensuring experiments meet client specifications and project objectives.
- Lead method development, method validation, and process development for scale-up of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
- Coordinate multiple projects, manage resources, monitor timelines, and ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
Advanced Analytical Interpretation:
- Demonstrate expertise in interpreting complex analytical data (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, GC, IR).
- Analyze impurity profiles, degradation pathways, and validate analytical methods for new molecules.
- Develop and refine scalable process chemistry, ensuring efficient synthesis routes and analytical method development.
Instrument Management and Troubleshooting:
- Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of key analytical instruments (HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, GC, FT-IR).
- Ensure optimal instrument performance through calibration, preventive maintenance, and compliance with SOPs.
- Train team members on the use of advanced technologies and software platforms.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, QA, EHS, and Projects teams to resolve complex analytical and process challenges.
- Participate in technical discussions with chemistry and process development teams to address method development and scale-up issues.
Client Relationship Management and Technical Reporting:
- Serve as the primary technical contact for clients, providing regular updates and resolving scientific concerns.
- Generate high-level technical reports for client presentations, including data interpretation, method validation outcomes, and process development summaries.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualification: PhD, M.Sc., or M.Pharm in Analytical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or related field.
- Experience:
- PhD with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, OR
- M.Sc./M.Pharm with a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience in CRO/API industry.
- Experience with key analytical techniques and instruments: HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, GC, FT-IR, etc.
- Proven experience in method development, process development, and scale-up.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, with a track record of managing scientific teams.
- Experience in working with global clients and preparing high-quality technical documentation.
