Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Project Title: Unraveling the Potential Therapeutic Impact of Biguanide Derivatives on EGFR/HER2-enriched Breast Cancer with a Special Emphasis on TERT-mediated Mitochondrial Dynamics.

Department: Environmental Carcinogenesis & Toxicology, CNCI, Kolkata

Project Tenure: 24 months (2 years)

Job Description:

• Carry out the project work, including collection of human samples, animal maintenance, and execution of experiments.
• JRF may need to visit the collaborating institute for chemical synthesis and other academic exchanges related to the research work.

Essential Qualification:

• BS 4 years programme/BPharm/MBBS/Integrated BS-MS/MSc/BE/BTech or equivalent degree in Basic Biological Sciences with 55% marks.
• Passing of NET/GATE test.

Age Limit: 28 years

Age Relaxation:

• Up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, women, and physically handicapped candidates.

Fellowship: Rs. 37,000/- per month

Conditions for Recruitment:

1. Application Submission: Candidates meeting the criteria and willing to work on the project must submit their filled application in the prescribed format attached with the advertisement by email to ugirhossainsk@cnci.ac.in on or before 21.07.2024. No hard copies are needed at this stage.
2. Selection Process: The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the CNCI website, and these candidates will be called for a walk-in interview or personal discussion.
3. Application Validity: Late and incomplete applications or applications not in the prescribed format will not be considered.
4. Contract Basis: The position is purely on a temporary contractual appointment basis.
5. Emoluments: Rates of emoluments are as per the guidelines and sanction.
6. Age Relaxation: As per government rules for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Women candidates.
7. Decision Authority: The appointing authority will decide the engagement of applicants for the position.
8. Qualification & Experience: Should be in the relevant discipline/field from a reputed institution. Experience should be post essential qualification.
9. No Guarantee of Selection: Meeting the essential qualification does not guarantee selection.
10. Government Employees: Those in regular time scale service under any government department/organization are not eligible to apply.
11. False Information: Submission of wrong or false information during selection will disqualify the candidature at any stage.
12. No Claim on Regular Post: Contract appointees will not have any claim on a regular post in this institute or funding agency or any government department.
13. Initial Appointment: Normally for one year, with further continuation based on project requirement, performance evaluation, and competent authority approval.
14. Document Verification: In the event of selection, candidates must produce all documents/certificates in original, including educational qualifications, date of birth, experience certificates, recent photograph, identity proof, and relevant certificates for verification at the time of joining.
15. Discrepancy in Documents: Candidates who fail to bring original certificates or have discrepancies in documents will not be allowed to join.
16. Termination of Engagement: Can be terminated with one month’s notice from either side. Contract can also be terminated immediately with payment equivalent to one month’s contractual amount.
17. Leave Policy: As per host institutional policy for contract staff.
18. CNCI’s Rights: Reserves the right to cancel/modify the recruitment process at any time at its discretion.
19. Director’s Decision: The decision of the Director, CNCI, will be final and binding.
20. Disqualification: Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
21. No TA/DA: TA/DA will not be paid by CNCI for attending the interview.
