Responsibilities of the Development Scientist I (Flow Cytometry)

As a Development Scientist I at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, the role focuses on conducting research and development activities related to flow cytometry, specifically developing products for immunophenotyping panels for Leukemia and Lymphoma. The responsibilities include:

  1. Research & Development: Designing, conducting, and analyzing studies to develop flow cytometry products, with a focus on multicolor panels for immunophenotyping.
  2. Data Analysis: Collecting and analyzing data, interpreting findings, and applying independent judgment to develop solutions to moderate scope problems.
  3. Feasibility Studies & Protocol Development: Contributing to feasibility studies, protocol development, and analytical methods for testing multicolor panels.
  4. Technology Transfer: Assisting with the transfer of technology to GMP manufacturing to ensure consistent and cost-effective production processes.
  5. Problem Solving: Troubleshooting technical issues, identifying root causes, and providing solutions for product optimization.
  6. Documentation: Creating technical presentations, preparing high-quality technical reports, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications Required for Development Scientist I

To qualify for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline, such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • 3-5 years of industrial or clinical experience, with specific exposure to Flow Cytometry, Immunophenotyping, or assay development techniques.
  • Experience in flow cytometry sample preparation, processing, acquisition, data analysis, and assay optimization is a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge of basic to moderate flow cytometry fundamentals and problem-solving skills is essential.
