Job Overview: Scientist IV – Analytical Research and Development
This is a non-supervisory position based in USP-India’s Analytical Research & Development Laboratory in Hyderabad. The selected candidate will play a key role in the isolation and purification of known and unknown impurities/compounds using preparative HPLC and other advanced analytical techniques. The role also involves maintaining a GLP-compliant environment, executing analytical tests, and contributing to research projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Isolation and Characterization (60%)
- Execute isolation/purification projects using preparative HPLC.
- Characterize molecules using advanced analytical techniques such as LCMS, GCMS, FTIR, UV-Visible, and NMR.
- Participate in project acceptance and ensure timely delivery of results.
- Instrumentation and Lab Maintenance (15%)
- Prepare, execute, and complete IQ/OQ/PQ for new instruments.
- Maintain GLP and safety standards in the laboratory.
- Manage inventory of glassware, chemicals, and columns required for ARD projects.
- Documentation and Compliance (10%)
- Prepare SOPs, protocols, and project reports.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Department to ensure project requirements are met.
- Ensure equipment calibration is performed as per schedule.
- Quality Assurance and Audits (10%)
- Actively participate in ISO-9001 certification/recertification processes.
- Address internal and external QA audit issues promptly.
- Contribute to cross-functional teams as needed.

Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications:
- Educational Background: MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or M.Pharm with 8-10 years of experience in isolation and characterization.
OR
Ph.D. with 4-7 years of experience in isolation and characterization. - Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Prep HPLC and HPLC.
- Expertise in HPLC and Prep HPLC method development.
- Basic understanding of data interpretation from LCMS, GCMS, FTIR, UV-Visible, and NMR.
- Experience:
- Analytical testing and development with a focus on process analytical chemistry.
- Exposure to GMP/GLP environments and documentation procedures.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proven problem-solving and technical writing skills.
Desired Preferences:
- Knowledge of handling XRD, TGA, and DSC instruments.
- Familiarity with ELN, Empower, and NuGenesis software.
- Experience in managing a team and multitasking.
- Understanding of GMP and ISO-IEC 17025 guidelines.
