Salary:

  • Rs. 37,000 plus 27% HRA (total Rs. 46,990) per month for the first two years
  • Rs. 42,000 plus 27% HRA (total Rs. 53,340) per month for the third year

Employment Type: Full-time, Temporary (3 years, subject to satisfactory performance review every 6 months)

Number of Positions: Two (One each for Cell culture and Zebrafish work)

Project Overview: Dr. Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences (DRILS) is inviting applications for two Junior Research Fellow positions under a DBT funded project titled “Understanding the functional significance of RNA exosome complex sub-unit EXOSC1, implicated in the rare disease pontocerebellar hypoplasia, using cellular and zebrafish model systems.”

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature searches
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments under the supervision of the scientist
  • Provide scientific support to the lead scientist
  • Maintain bookkeeping, stocks, and consumables

Scope of Experimental Work:

  • Routine cell culture, cell differentiation, transfection, gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9), lentivirus preparation, and transduction
  • Analysis via western blotting, qPCR, ChIP, microscopy, and biochemical kits
  • Cloning and site-directed mutagenesis
  • Generation and genotypic analysis of transgenic zebrafish
  • Dissection, sectioning, slide preparation, and immunohistochemistry of adult zebrafish
  • Imaging analysis of zebrafish larvae

Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate degree in Basic Sciences or Graduate/Post-graduate degree in a professional course selected through a national-level examination (e.g., CSIR UGC NET, GATE)
  • 1-2 years of experience in Molecular Biology and Cell Biology
  • Prior hands-on experience with cell culture and zebrafish preferred
  • Additional experience with dissections and immunohistochemistry is advantageous
