Positions Available

1. Project Manager

• Number of Posts: 01
• Age Limit: Minimum age limit is 45 years
• Remuneration: ₹1,50,000/- per month (consolidated)
• Essential Qualifications: Doctoral degree in science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent with 20 years of experience in marine microbiology and related areas
• Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in molecular microbiology, microbial biodiversity, characterization, taxonomy, and phylogenetic studies of bacteria from marine ecosystems
  • Characterization of biotechnologically important enzymes, cloning for recombinant expression
  • Experience in biogeochemical cycles’ influence on microbial community structure and function
  • Experience in genomics, including bacterial genomes and metagenomes
  • Proven scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in biorepository for long-term preservation of bacteria
  • Experience in handling scientific projects and coordinating with team members
• Job Requirements: Overall project management, driving and coordinating with other participating institutes, conducting joint meetings with stakeholders, preparing reports, and data management

2. Project Scientist – II

• Number of Posts: 10
• Upper Age Limit: 40 years
• Remuneration: ₹67,000/- per month + 18% HRA
• Essential Qualifications: Doctoral degree in science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent with three years of experience in research and development
• Desirable Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in life sciences with extensive experience in microbiology, pharmacy, molecular biology, marine biology, virology, natural products chemistry, drug screening, bioprospecting, high-throughput NGS technologies, biochemistry, proteomics, mass-spectrometry, metabolomics, etc.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in bioinformatics or computational biology, high-throughput sequencing data analysis, programming languages such as Python, Perl, C++, JAVA, AI, ML, etc.
  • System administration and managing HPC operations

3. Project Scientist – I

• Number of Posts: 06
• Upper Age Limit: 35 years
• Remuneration: ₹56,000/- per month + 18% HRA
• Essential Qualifications: Doctoral degree in science or Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent
• Desirable Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in life sciences with extensive experience in microbiology, pharmacy, molecular biology, marine biology, virology, natural products chemistry, drug screening, bioprospecting, high-throughput NGS technologies, biochemistry, proteomics, mass-spectrometry, metabolomics, etc.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in bioinformatics or computational biology, high-throughput sequencing data analysis, programming languages such as Python, Perl, C++, JAVA, etc.

4. Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

• Number of Posts: 13
• Upper Age Limit: 35 years
• Remuneration: ₹42,000/- per month + 18% HRA
• Eligibility Criteria: M.Sc. / M.Tech / M.Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks with 2 years of experience in research work
• Desirable Qualifications:
  • Research experience in applied biology, biotechnology, drug screening, bioprospecting, microbiology, proteomics, mass-spectrometry, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS), molecular biology techniques, experimental microbial work, handling clinical samples
  • Computational biology, machine learning, database development, simulations, programming, or scripting

Application Process

Selection will be carried out through application screening, followed by a written/interview process. The list of shortlisted candidates’ names and the date of the interview will be published on the ILS website. All positions are purely temporary and coterminous with the project. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The decision of the Director regarding the selection of candidates will be final. All communication will be through email, and no separate call letter will be issued to the candidates.
