Position Summary

The role may include coordinating the acquisition, distribution, and control of drug therapy for patients under the pharmacist’s care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal medication use and resolve drug-related issues.
  • Provide drug information to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Educate pharmacists, residents, and students.
  • Serve as a resource and drug expert in hematology/oncology.
  • Engage in research and writing activities to enhance knowledge.
  • Coordinate drug therapy acquisition, distribution, and control as necessary.

Candidate Profile

  • Educational Requirements:
    • Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) or
    • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with an advanced degree.
  • Experience:
    • PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residency or at least three years of equivalent work experience.
  • Licensure:
    • Valid license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, completed and verified by the date of hire.
    • Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BCOP) certification is preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Deep knowledge of medications, drug interactions, medical procedures, therapies, diagnosis, and disease states.
    • Effective interpersonal skills for interaction with hospital staff, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain well-written documentation.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, additional language skills are a plus.
    • Self-management skills and ability to work independently.
    • Process improvement skills and attention to detail.
    • Experience with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web browsers.
