Job Description:
Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), an autonomous institution of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites applications for the position of Research Associate-I. This is a highly motivated and bright candidate’s opportunity to join a research project funded by the Government of India at INST, Mohali.
Title of the Research Project:
Lignin valorization via biomaterial development, depolymerization, and green technology.
Principal Investigator:
Prof. Deepa Ghosh, Scientist-G
Qualifications:
- Essential: Ph.D./MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree, or having 3 years of research, teaching, and design and development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
- Desirable Experience: Research experience in Tissue engineering/Biomaterials/Synthetic Modification of biopolymers/Proficiency in animal handling is preferable.
Age Limit: 35 years as of 30.07.2024 (relaxable for certain reserved categories as per Government of India rules).
Responsibilities:
- Development of novel scaffolding matrices using lignin for biomedical applications.
- Purification of lignin from various plant sources.
- Modification of lignin for the development of hydrogel scaffolds.
- Physico-chemical characterization.
- In vitro and in vivo assessment of its potential in tissue regeneration applications.
Project Duration: Initially one year, extendable based on performance and availability of funds.
General Terms and Conditions:
- The position is purely temporary and contractual, renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds, for a maximum of three years or till the duration of the project.
- The position is co-terminus with the project.
